Igniter 2™ is no longer being sold, as it has been replaced with the new Igniter 3™. Click below to check-out the new Igniter 3™.

Igniter 3™.

Igniter 2™ is the next generation sound board and LED driver for your custom illuminated saber, bringing you amazing features in a package size that is even smaller than the Igniter Mini™. With the new SaberSense™ motion detection engine every nuance of the saber’s movement is captured, and sounds are faithfully reproduced to put you inside the saber world. And with the main board coming in at only 1.75”x0.85”x0.26”, this board can fit in almost every small hilt without modifications! Now all the features of Igniter™ R5 can be obtained in even the smallest of hilts.

Compare with other boards

Igniter 2™ comes with all the classic color features you’ve come to love from the Igniter™ product line, including Dual Phase™, where you can simply twist the saber to switch between two colors on the fly, and MultiPhase™, where you can switch to the next font’s colors and effects seamlessly, without having to turn the saber off. It also comes with the classic audio features such as SaberFX™, where your saber will come to life with sound effects or voice quotes being able to randomly be played after actions or when the saber is sitting still, and Saber Cinema™ the ultimate way to experience music while still utilizing the saber. You can play a song and turn on your saber while the music is still playing!

Igniter 2(TM)

In addition to these classic features, the Igniter 2™ firmware introduces Saber Apps™, the first saber operating system that allows independent applications to be loaded and run on the saber without having to be hooked to the computer. Simply point the saber down while holding the aux button to load the Saber Apps™ menu, and select through any of the existing apps. There are a variety of great apps such as Color Editor, allowing you to edit the saber’s colors on the fly without the need to be hooked to a computer and without removing the micro SD card; Motion Editor, the app that allows you to test the motion sensitivity and change the settings on the fly, and of course the first ever game for sabers, Saber Says™! Challenge your friends to get the highest score in a memory game where you mimic the sounds by performing the corresponding actions, a great spin on a classic four color memory game that makes using your saber an entirely new challenge.

And if that is not enough, because Spark Color™ is just another app all Igniter 2™ sabers come with the full Spark Color™ firmware as an app! This means when buying Igniter 2™ you are really getting both an Igniter 2™ and a Spark Color™. This allows you to experience the full-fledged Igniter 2™ experience when messing around with your saber, but at a con or when showing off multiple colors quickly you can simply load the Spark Color™ firmware to switch through all the colorsets in one font.

New in Igniter 2™ I2-R2

If all those features were not enough, a slew of new additions are present in the new I2-R2 firmware release. Saber activation just got better! Choose between the main button, main button or Slash, main button or twist, or even all three to turn on each font! Activate swinging through and breaking objects with the new Smash (smsh) sound bank, by simply holding the aux button when swinging. Have Saber FX sounds play during the idle menu. Set the new Alternating Clash to experience more vivid and lively clash and lockup effects. And let your saber show itself off by switching to the new demo app for hands-free saber operation.

Along with all these great features, Igniter 2 now also supports NeoPixel string blades! Simply switch the SD card to use all the apps with the string blade – no need to buy a separate or special board. With this setup you can experience the awesomeness of Extension and Retraction Flow, to have realistic growing and shrinking of the saber. Further, with Impact Blast™ you can feel the blasts impacting on certain spots of the blade. All this with a super bright and even blade that out-shines the standard in-hilt LEDs.

To learn more about all the I2-R2 features, see the video in the video section below. To learn more about the specific NeoPixel LEDs tested, see the following links for the two I used, and the third for the tutorial.
